Hair Inspiration

My hair has become a big deal to me lately. I guess it really started when I took a chance and cut most of it off in my bedroom one night. Since then though, it's gotten shorted and shorter, and also more colorful. I bleached it at the end of April, and so far I have had the same color as Jessie on Team Rocket (remember her from Pokémon? Anybody?), teal, green, pink, purple, and blue. But here are some other the ladies that I look to for some hairspiration!

The first is the inspiring Demi Lovato!

I have this exact photo from an issue of Seventeen magazine hanging on my wall and I love it! This was the inspiration for me dying my hair blue, which was actually a horrible idea. It looks great on Demi, but it wasn't the color for me. I absolutely hated it when it was blue, but it's faded to more of a purple. But Demi has had so many different hair colors since she bleached her hair from her natural blonde, and now that I think of it, she was probably the one that inspired me to do the same!

The next woman that I look to is Emma Roberts.

This is exactly how I want my hair to look. I love the slight beachy waves that she's go going on, but no matter how hard I try I can never achieve this look. I always end up with curls instead of waves. But I keep on trying, because I'm bound to get it sometime, right?

Last up is the young Carrie Bradshaw from The Carrie Diaries

Season 1 Carrie, where she had longer tighter curls. I am so envious of those curls! I know I said that I want the loose waves of Emma Roberts, but I would absolutely love to have crazy curls like Carrie. So whenever I choose to go for actually curls, I try to get as close to her hair as possible.

Summer Wishlist

Summer is here, and I have nothing to wear!
That may not be completely true, but it seems like that sometimes. Some days when I open my wardrobe I see absolutory nothing that I want to wear! I don't have the money to go shopping for new summer clothes, but if I did, these are the items that I would be getting from my favourite online stores right now, boohoo.com and choies.com!

First up is this gorgeous purple paisley print knitted kimono!

Kimonos are my new favourite piece of clothing this year, and they are perfect for summer! This print is seriously gorgeous and fun, and it has a lot of my favourite color: purple!

The next item on my wishlist is this amazing pair of high waisted shorts:

I am all about the 1980's (I desperately want the 80's to come back), so these acid wash shorts are right up my alley! I also love the cuffs at the bottom of the leg opening. They're just so cool to me!

Now for a pair of shoes! Boots to be exact.

These boots are everything. I love how they have a slight heel, and the buckle around the ankle is my favourite parts. The gold plate around the heel is really cool too. I just love boots, even in the summer!

Now onto dresses.

This black maxi dress is chic and simple. That's not exactly my style, but this is the kind of piece that could definitely be styled to be more edgy with the right accessories. Plus, there's fringe on the back. And I am obsessed with fringe right now.

Last but certainly not least, this beauty.

The eye print may be a little odd, but I am completely in love with this dress. I saw one that was the exact same at Zara a couple months ago and tried it on, but I didn't buy it. And that choice to not buy it has haunted me since. I want this dress so much, I might just suck it up and buy it. I can forgo groceries for a week, right?

Summer Playlist

Up to this point, this blog has been solely for outfit posts, but I'm getting bored with that. So I'm going to try changing it up by writing about basically anything that I want to! And today that means music and the songs that are on my Summer Playlist!

Up first, is a bit of a surprise. It's Problem by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea. I've never quite liked any of Ariana's songs, but this one is so catchy, and I'm loving the saxophone! I'm not really into music that is this poppy, but this song is so fun! Also, Iggy's solo is rad.

Next up is my new favourite band, the Arctic Monkeys. All of their songs are perfect. So basically all of the AM record is on my playlist, but for the sake of keeping this post as short as possible, I'll only tell you about my two favourite Arctic Monkeys songs (I literally cannot put only one. This band is my life right now.) The first is an older one from their first record, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, and it's called Mardy Bum. I can't even think of how to explain this one, but I love it. Take a listen.

The other song is from their newest record AM, and it's called R U Mine? This song is so rock and roll I love it. The guitars and drums in it are really cool, and Alex Turner's voice. Is. To. Die. For.

Now for a more relaxed, reggae song. You all can probably guess; Rude by MAGIC! It's been playing everywhere, and I just love the feel of this song. The lyrics are a little lame since he's complaining about his girlfriend's father not letting him marry her. But it's such a jam I still love it, and will be listening to it all summer!

Last but not least, I of course can't talk about my favourite music without talking about 5 Seconds of Summer! I just love them. My all time favourite is Try Hard, but literally all of their songs ever are on my playlist this summer. This one is so cute, and I love what's happening in the music.

You know what, I love this one too much not to add it. 5SOS' cover of What I Like About You. All of the boys have solos and it's just plain rad.

Do All You Can

Living in a big city like Toronto is so crazy. Sometimes I still can't believe that I live here! Over this past weekend was the MMVA's (or the Much Music Video Awards, for those unfamiliar), which I have watched on TV in my tiny town for years, dreaming about how amazing it would be to actually be there and see everything! And guess what. This weekend, I went downtown to see the MMVA's! Except I didn't end up getting to watch the show there. In the past, you've need a wristband to get in the audience, but people could stand and watch behind the fences that they put up even if you didn't have a wristband, which was my plan. Unfortunately though, there were some people who got a little crazy and rowdy, so the security guards had to cover the fence so we couldn't see. It was still so insane to see the stages set up though, and we actually got to watch the rehearsals of Imagine Dragons, Ariana Grande, and Magic! We saw Kendall and Kylie too! So it was definitely worth going down to see it, and we even walked away with some free stuff!
Anyway, this is what I wore! I thought I'd take a risk, by going for more of a gothic look.

The heels seem a little crazy, but they were necessary. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to see anything since I'm so short. I did bring flats with me though, so I was changing my shoes whenever my feet started to hurt!

To Be Alive

Risk-taking is, of course, one of the scariest things about life, but it's necessary. Without taking risks, one would never grow, would they? When I put this outfit together, I started with the skirt. I love this skirt; how the fabric falls, the layers, and of course the color! At first I was tempted to wear a black shirt with it as I usually would when I wear a bright color. But then I put on a purple shirt. I took a risk, by putting two jewel tones together. It was scary (not the scariest of risks, I know), but I was a bit uncomfortable all day. I'm so used to wearing black that color feels weird on me. I'm glad I did it though, because change is good!

Speaking of risks, (shameless plug coming up!) I took one yesterday and started a YouTube channel! If you'd like to check it out, you can visit my channel, InTheLandOfStlye, by clicking right here!!!
